Commands

Command What it does
feu share Shares this computer: shows the ID and password and waits
feu connect <ID> Opens a live terminal on the other computer
feu exec <ID> "<command>" Runs one command and returns its output and exit code
feu screenshot <ID> <file.png> Saves a picture of the other computer’s screen
feu put <ID> <local> <remote> Sends a file to the other computer
feu get <ID> <remote> <local> Brings a file from the other computer
feu log Shows this computer’s log
feu mcp Starts the MCP server for AI agents

With feu connect you can also use the 9-digit number instead of the ID.

  • The ID is the same every time; the password changes on every share.
  • --yes approves every connection on its own. Use it only on computers you look after yourself.
  • --no-directory doesn’t publish the 9-digit number. People connect with the long ID.
  • --local uses only the local network.
  • The password isn’t shown while you type it. If it’s wrong it asks again, up to 5 times.
  • A full terminal: colors, accents, arrows, Ctrl+C and resizing the window. Type exit to leave.
  • The output goes to stdout and errors to stderr. FeuSh’s own notices also go to stderr.
  • The exit code is the remote command’s. If it doesn’t fit in a byte, or the command ended without one, it’s 1. If it was cut off for taking too long, 124.
  • --json returns everything in one line. Use it from programs, because codes 2 to 6 are also FeuSh’s own errors.
  • --timeout <seconds> cuts the command if it takes longer (1 to 600).
  • --password passes the password, but it can stay in the terminal history. FEU_PASSWORD is safer.
  • The output is cut at 1 MB each (stdout and stderr). A command can be up to 6000 bytes long.
  • On Windows it runs in PowerShell.
  • feu screenshot: --display N for another screen.
  • feu put: --force to overwrite a file that already exists.
  • feu log: shows the last 50 lines. --all shows everything and --json the raw lines.
Variable What it does
FEU_PASSWORD The password, so it isn’t typed or left in the history
FEU_NO_DIRECTORY=1 Same as --no-directory
FEU_DIRECTORY Uses another directory for the short numbers (HTTPS only)
FEU_DATA_DIR Changes the folder where FeuSh keeps its key and its log
